BP Rumaila Raise Funds at "Fun Run" in Basrah, Iraq

For the fourth time, BP and its partners at Rumaila Operating Organization in Basrah, organized a Christmas "fun run" to raise funds for Iraq's orphans and other vulnerable children. The BP team, led by Communications & External Affairs Manager, Chris Boyd, conducted the run in the Rumaila facilities, with many employees joining. Despite COVID-19 challenges, the BP team have managed to hold this fun run during 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021.

The Iraqi Children Foundation (ICF) expressed its gratitude to BP and Rumaila for its generous support for Iraqi children.
Donations from the Rumaila Fun Run will support ICF’s core projects in 2022, including:

  • Hope Bus 1 and 2 that provide tutoring, healthy meals, and social services to orphans and child laborers,

  • The “Street Lawyers” who provide legal protection to children at risk of exploitation and trafficking, as well as access to legal documents required for school and government benefits, and

  • Social Services that help end child labor, provide medical care, mediation in the home, and other assistance to the most vulnerable children.
